We certainly hope you and your families are well and staying safe. Our daily social media posts highlighting the work currently hanging in our galleries are intended to provide some respite, so if you’re not already, be sure to follow us on facebook and instagram. We’re just about to wrap up sharing the artwork exhibited in Fully Saturated. For those who didn’t have the opportunity to see the show in person, don’t worry, we’ve extended this exhibition so you will have a chance to see it once we reopen!
If you are a Woodmere Member, please review our updated membership policy page. We hope it helps answer some questions you might have during this time. If you have further questions, you can always contact Emily Myles at emyles@woodmereartmuseum.org.
As a nonprofit, we are so grateful to everyone who has made a donation, shared a post, or renewed or purchased a membership during this period. Each of these actions fuels Woodmere’s mission and keeps the museum shining during these unprecedented times.
Here are some additional items to help keep art thriving:
Zoom Lecture & Q&A: Common Threads: African Objects of the Textile and Costume Collection
Presenter: Jade Papa, Curator, Textile and Costume Collection, Jefferson University (formerly Philadelphia University/College of Textiles and Sciences)
In collaboration with the exhibition Africa in the Arts of Philadelphia, Woodmere and The Design Center at Thomas Jefferson University invite you to join textile and costume curator Jade Papa for a free presentation on the University’s extensive collection of African textiles. The functionality and cultural significance of these textiles will be discussed and a Q&A session will follow.

Introducing New Teacher and Parent Resources!
Are you a parent or teacher looking for educational resources to aid at-home learning? Woodmere offers family and teacher resources designed to use the visual arts as a learning tool across all disciplines. Our Teaching Resources page includes activities and workbooks tied to Woodmere’s collection and exhibitions. These booklets, like Games//Colors//Play Vol. 1, are designed to easily be downloaded and printed at home. We’ll be adding content on a rolling basis, so check back routinely and keep an eye out for special Earth Day activities in celebration of the 50th anniversary!

ARTZ Philadelphia Goes Virtual
While ARTZ Philadelphia will not be meeting at Woodmere in the near term, we look forward to continuing our partnership as ARTZ-Connects online! Now through Zoom, these programs for those with dementia, their care partners, and family, offer interactions with artworks and opportunities for self-expression. The programs are facilitated by ARTZ Philadelphia Director Dr. Susan Shifrin, an art historian, independent curator, and arts accessibility advocate.
