The Chestnut Hill Business District (CHBD) promotes conscientious growth, green innovation and creative opportunity in a historic Urban Village setting.

The CHBD is comprised of tax assessment and dues paying membership located within the defined boundaries of the Neighborhood Improvement District.  The CHBD is recognized by the City of Philadelphia as a Registered Community Organization.

The CHBD considers variance requests for projects located within the NID boundaries following criteria established by The City of Philadelphia’s Zoning Board of Adjustment.

Meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of the month at the business office @ 10 E. Springfield Avenue, 19118 starting at 9:00 am.  Please contact Courtney ONeill, Executive Director for the CHBD, (215-247-6636) to add your variance issue to an upcoming meeting agenda.

PROCEDURE:  Upon notification of a variance issue.

  • The issue is added to the next meeting agenda pending update from the applicant.
  • The applicant should provide pertinent material 5 days in advance of the meeting date.
  • Agenda and material should be distributed to the Executive Committee 3 days in advance of the meeting date.
  • The Executive Committee will evaluate and submit a meeting summary to the Coordinating RCO (CHCA).
