This event is FREE and open to the public.
This year we pay tribute to the turtle and its role as a literary subject and character within various cultures. Explore the zigzag spaces, tunnels, and multi-level views created in Woodmere’s 2023 straw maze. Built with massive bales of straw and designed by architects Peter Everett Brown and Barbara Ann Sprague of BrownSprague LLC, this year’s maze provides fun and recreation for all ages.
Saturdays and Sundays, September 9-November 12
10AM-5PM | Ages 4-11, with an adult
FREE for family members
$5/child for non-members; $20 for groups of 5
FREE for adults and children ages 3 and under.

Please Join Us for an Opening Reception celebrating Just In: Recent Acquisitions and The Photo Review: Best of Show on Saturday, September 9th from 1PM-3PM. This event is FREE and open to the public.
Just In: Recent Acquisitions on view AUGUST 5, 2023 through APRIL 7, 2024, showcases important works by Philadelphia’s contemporary artists acquired since 2019, highlighting a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, and photography. The exhibition also features recently acquired jewelry, offering a preview of galleries that are to be dedicated to metalsmithing and jewelry arts in Woodmere’s Frances M. Maguire Hall for Art and Education.
The Photo Review: Best of Show 2023 on view AUGUST 5 through OCTOBER 29, 2023, shines a light on 15 prizewinners chosen by noted photographer, teacher, and author Deborah Willis. The winners were selected by Willis from more than 1,300 entries to the 2023 International Photography Competition. Now in its 38th year, the competition is organized annually by The Photo Review, a critical journal of national scope and international readership.

Jazz is back this fall with Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble belting out a dynamic line-up of performances. The season kicks off with Jazzy Divas, a SPECIAL Saturday Night Jazz, on September 23rd to celebrate the opening of Barbara Bullock: Fearless Vision This will be the only outdoor concert for the season and then we move indoors for Friday Night Jazz.

TUESDAY NIGHTS AT THE MOVIES

On Tuesday nights, Woodmere’s main gallery is transformed into an intimate setting for screenings of rare and underseen films as well as classics. Tuesday Nights at the Movies is presented with the Chestnut Hill Film Group and sponsored by the Chestnut Hill Local. Donations suggested.
The season begins on September 26 with a KAY FRANCIS DOUBLE FEATURE showing Trouble In Paradise and One Way Passage.
