The Wissahickon Trail Classic Returns June 1, Celebrating 15 years and Friends of the Wissahickon’s 100th Anniversary

PHILADELPHIA – April 1, 2024- The 15th Wissahickon Trail Classic (WTC), one of the region’s premier 10K trail races, is ready to welcome hundreds of runners to Wissahickon Valley Park on Saturday, June 1. For the second consecutive year, the event will benefit Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW), which is celebrating its centennial this year.

The WTC, which always takes place on National Trails Day, was established in 2006 by the Wissahickon Wanderers Running Club to highlight the park as one of the best trail-running destinations on the East Coast. The course for the popular race, which last year drew 450 runners, is known for its well-maintained, challenging trails in a stunning natural environment.

“FOW is thrilled to once again be the beneficiary of this iconic trail race and to engage with the active running community in our region,” said Ruffian Tittmann, FOW’s executive director. “Every runner’s stride helps pave the way for FOW’s next century of stewardship.” Funds raised from the event will go back into the stewardship of the Wissahickon trail system and watershed.
