Major Accomplishments

July 1, 2014 to Present

  • November 8, 2014: We organized Weird Waste Day at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy. We collected 11,378 pounds of electronic waste for responsible recycling and raised $459 (net income) to be used for our “Green Warrior” student grant program. (A total of 74 tons of electronic waste has been collected since November 2009.)
  • December 15, 2014: Various GRinCH Board members donated a combined total of $500 to the Chestnut Hill Community Fund’s “Re-Tree Chestnut Hill” project.
  • January 11, 2015: GRinCH participated in city-wide annual “tree-cycling.” At our event held at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy, we collected approximately 125 Christmas trees to be used for mulch (keeping them out of landfills) and raised $465 (net income) for our student grant program.

Other activities …

  • September 22, 2014: GRinCH President Amy Edelman attended the tremendous People’s Climate March in New York City.
  • October 22, 2014: Various GRinCH Board members attended a sustainability conference at Chestnut Hill College.

In the works …

  • April 25, 2015: We are organizing another Weird Waste Day at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy.
  • April 25, 2015: GRinCH is a sponsor, via our student grant program, of a Girls’ Climate Change Summit to be held at the Springside School as part of the school’s “Earth Month” celebrations.
  • May 3, 2015: We are organizing, for the 6th year, a branch of the Chestnut Hill Garden Festival called Eco-Alley, a block of green vendors, music, activities, and environmental organizations. We will again “free-cycle” hundreds of books, CDs, and DVDs and collect donations for our student grant program.
