OMC Eighth Graders are beginning a new art project with Ms. Abby! As we continue our effort to rebuild OMC, our Eighth Graders are working hard to construct a cardboard version of our school in time for the art show this winter!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Alumni Update!

Congratulations to Emily Kellmeyer from the class of 2020!

Last week, Emily took part in National Signing Day at Merion Mercy Academy, committing to row for George Washington University starting in the fall.

Being recruited to play a varsity sport in college is no easy feat. In fact, only about 7% of high school athletes make it to the next level, and less than 2% go on to play at NCAA Division I schools.

In addition to being a dedicated rower, Emily holds a variety of leadership positions at Merion Mercy, including serving on the Ministry Team’s core team and as the Ministry Team advisor. She is vice president of the Catherine McAuley chapter of the National Honor Society, and student leader of Blue Key Society’s leadership team and Mercy Mission Corps. She is service director of the Environmental Club and a member of Rho Kappa Honor Society.

Congratulations, Emily! OMC is proud to have been your academic home!

OMC #iGiveCatholic Campaign has begun! We have started to raise funds to further strengthen our Fire Recovery Fund and will continue to do so until Giving Tuesday, November 28.

Throughout the Thanksgiving season, we invite all members of the OMC community to share our donation link and what you believe makes OMC such a special place for you and your child with friends and family on social media or in person.

Donations can be made electronically at our donation page linked at the bottom of this section. Donors can give via cash or check mailed to the attention of Shane Sprandio at OMC’s Parish Office located at 9 E. Chestnut Hill Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118. If you choose to give via cash or check, please be sure that your gift is labelled “I give Catholic.”

We also invite donors to review and share our Matching Gift Program to see if your employer can double your impact on our school community. Please be aware that certain exclusions may apply. Check with your employer to learn more about their gift matching program.

We look forward to this campaign celebrating Catholic education at OMC while we strengthen its future together.

OMC CYO Basketball Registration Open!

OMC CYO Basketball is now open for all students in 3rd-8th Grade! Registration costs $150 per player. Practices are usually 75 minutes long and games are typically scheduled for Saturdays.

There will be separate teams for Boys and Girls in 3rd and 4th Grades. There will be two practices per week for these teams starting in December. Games will begin in January and run through February. There are no cuts for 3rd and 4th Grade teams.

5th-8th graders will play on four separate teams: 5th/6th Girls, 7th/8th Boys, 5th/6th Girls, and 7th/8th Girls. Two practices per week will begin in November for these teams. Practices will shift to once or twice per week in December with one game per week. Any players that are cut will receive a full refund of their registration fees.

If we have too many players for one team at a given level we will try to accommodate everyone by forming multiple teams if gym space and coaches are available.

If you have any questions or if you’d like to be added to the basketball email list, please contact Kelly Morano (kellymorano12@gmail.com), OMC CYO Athletic Director.
