Woodmere Art Museum and Chestnut Hill Film Group Present Tuesday Nights at the Movies

Tuesday Nights at the Movies’ April Lineup is Here!

This month, we’ve got films by some of the most iconic directors in the business, all known for their strong artistic visions and unique storytelling. Whether it’s Robert Altman’s innovative use of ensemble casts, Hayao Miyazaki’s breathtaking animation and imaginative worlds, Paul Mazursky’s incisive exploration of the human experience, Rian Johnson’s subversion of genre expectations, or John Woo’s groundbreaking action sequences, these risk-taking directors bring their distinct perspectives to their films. While April’s movies are as diverse as their genres suggest (neo-noir, drama, and anime), they all explore personal transformation. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions and even a little soul-searching, so join us for the ride.

Brick

Tuesday, April 23, 7PM

2005

100 minutes

Directed by Rian Johnson, “Brick” is a neo-noir mystery set in a modern-day high school. Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars as Brendan, a teenager who delves into the seedy underbelly of his school to uncover the truth behind his ex-girlfriend’s disappearance. Classic noir elements with a (tongue in cheek) contemporary twist
