BertoiaJoin us for a celebrational Pop-Up Party of the re-installation of the monumental sculpture and fountain, Free Interpretation of Plant Forms (1967), made by the renowned American artist and designer Harry Bertoia (1915-1978).

Originally commissioned by the City’s Percent-for-Art program, Bertoia’s fountain was installed in the central plaza of the Philadelphia Civic Center in West Philadelphia in 1967. The sculpture was placed in storage in 2000 when the plaza and the adjacent buildings of the Civic Center were slated for demolition. The three-day process of moving the sculpture from its storage location to Woodmere will culminate in a celebration at Woodmere at 6:00pm on Friday, July 22, 2016.

Woodmere will also offer an exhibition Harry Bertoia: Free Interpretations on view from August 20 – November 6, 2016 that includes monoprints and related sculpture that explore the Free Interpretations of Plant Forms in the broader context of Bertoia’s career.

****The event is free of charge, but both space and parking are limited. So please let us know if you can attend. We look forward to seeing you! *****
