The German Motet: Schutz, Bach, and Brahms

The professional soloists of the PCCH Gallery Choir, led by conductor Daniel Spratlan, will perform two of Bach’s masterful motets for double choir: Komm, Jesu, komm and Singet dem Herrn.  Also on the program are the Three Motets, Op. 110 of Johannes Brahms, and Herr, wenn ich nur dich habe by Heinrich Schutz. These pieces trace the masterful counterpoint, virtuosic 8-part vocal writing (sung 1-to-a-part in this performance), and dramatic beauty of the genre through three centuries.
