Bredenbeck’s Bakery Competes in Rachael Ray’s Royal Wedding Cake-Off on Friday, May 18
Award-winning Chestnut Hill bakery designs fanciful sparkling Rosé wedding cake for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in competition judged by the “Cake Boss”

Bredenbeck’s Bakery, one of the most well known, well-respected bakeries in the Philadelphia region, was selected to participate on The Rachael Ray Show in a wedding cake competition celebrating the upcoming nuptials of Britain’s Prince Harry to Hollywood actress Meghan Markle. Rachael Ray’s Royal Wedding Cake-off airs on 6ABC this Friday, May 18, at 10:00 am, one day before the royal wedding.

“We were incredibly honored to be invited to participate in such an extraordinary event,” says Bredenbeck’s owner, Karen Boyd-Rohde. “We had so much fun designing a cake that celebrates the happy-ever-after love story between a British ‘red fox’ and American starlet.”
The Bredenbeck’s design features a cake topper depicting two loveable foxes with tails intertwined into a heart. The bottom layer of the 3-tier cake depicts colorful scenes from Harry and Meghan’s courtship, including the rose garden and cottage where the bride-to-be cooked the famous roasted chicken on the night Harry proposed. The Sparking Rosé pound cake is adorned with bright-colored pink, yellow, and lavender roses over American Buttercream icing.

“Meghan is a California girl, so we thought she would enjoy the uniqueness that the Sparkling Rosé brings to our award-winning pound cake,” adds Rohde.

Bredenbeck’s head wedding cake designer, Diana Anello, competed with bakeries from New York and New Jersey for Rachael’s Royal Wedding Cake-Off judged by “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro. The segment was filmed before a studio audience and all 160 people in the audience were treated to a slice of Bredenbeck’s royal wedding cake.

“There’s something about a royal wedding that everyone loves,” says Boyd-Rohde who remains mum about the outcome of the contest. “You’ll just have to watch the Friday’s show to find out what Rachael and the judge thought of our cake and design,” adds Boyd-Rohde.

A self-taught baker and driven entrepreneur, Boyd-Rohde has instilled at Bredenbeck’s a deep respect for the time-honored traditions of scratch baking while at the same time expanding the bakery’s reach and customer base. Bredenbeck’s has appeared on the Food Network and TLC Cable and Satellite TV Network. Recent awards include The Knot Best of Weddings Hall of Fame and 2018 Pick, WeddingWire Couples Choice for 2018, and Best of Philly 2017.

Bredenbeck’s Bakery is located at 8126 Germantown Avenue in the historic Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia. To learn more, visit www.bredenbecks.com, e-mail sales@bredenbecks.com, or call (215) 247-7374.
