PHILADELPHIA – January 4, 2025 – Join Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) on Monday, January 19, for its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Cleanup event. Help give back to the park, its users, the creek, and the plants and animals that depend on a clean park to survive. This year, FOW will be completing a variety of projects around Monastery Stables, including removing invasive vines and cleaning up litter. This will not only make this area of the park more beautiful, but it will keep the Wissahickon Watershed healthier for everyone.
All are welcome to attend, and no experience is needed. The service day may include the following activities:
• Invasive plant removal: bending over, using long handled tools
• Litter clean-up
• Repetitive motions
