Freedom rings this month at Woodmere! As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, we turn our focus to the themes of freedom, family, and identity. Woodmere is proud to open two compelling new exhibitions, Arc of Promise and The Woodmere Annual: 83rd Juried Exhibition, each offering powerful perspectives through the work of Philadelphia artists. And we will gather to celebrate The Joy of Juneteenth on Friday, June 19 at Maguire Hall. We also invite you to join us this Father’s Day for A Pride Month Conversation with Director & CEO Bill Valerio, who will lead a “prideful” discussion exploring the LGBTQ+ artists featured at Maguire Hall, on Sunday, June 21. Beloved programs like Family Art & Storytelling continue to bring audiences of all ages together through creativity, conversation, and shared experience. One final Friday Night Jazz remains this season on June 5, and we are excited to present a special performance, The Tonics and The Bacchus Boys in Concert on Saturday, June 6. Summer is also an exciting time for young artists at Woodmere. Our wide range of Children and Teen art programs encourages self-expression, builds artistic skills, and nurtures a lifelong love of art in a supportive and inspiring environment. Drawing largely from Woodmere’s collection, the exhibition spans the 1790s to the present, with painting, sculpture, and works on paper that reflect the ever-renewed ideal of the American experiment.
