George Bernard Shaw’s THE DOCTOR’S DILEMA – A readingMay 4th at 7:00 PM For the first time since the pandemic, Quintessence restarts its Elemental Recitations series with a rehearsed reading of George Bernard Shaw’s The Doctor’s Dilemma. Heralded by Shaw himself as the greatest satire on medicine since Molière’s The Hypochondriac, join us on Monday May 4th, 2026 at 7pm, to hear an ensemble of professional actors read the play aloud. The Doctor’s Dilemma questions who should receive medical treatment, and should one’s profession, wealth or state of health dictate who receives treatment first. Shaw subtitled the play “A Tragedy,” but it is actually a satire of doctors, medical ethics, and the importance of art. The cast will be announced shortly.
