Quintessence Theater Presents Henry IV as Rare Accidents
Dear Quintessence Family,
Rehearsals are underway for Rare Accidents, our abridgement of Shakespeare’s Henry IV parts 1 and 2, and that starts previews on February 11th!
We are so excited to introduce our star-studded cast for Shakespeare’s epic history play, lead by Philadelphia favorites, Scott Greer as Sir John Falstaff (making his Quintessence’s debut) and the return of Phillip Brown as Henry IV (Camille, Flyin’ West) and Christopher Patrick Mullen (Macbeth, Midsummer Night’s Dream and Pirates of Penzance) as Northumberland.
They are joined by Tyler Bey (Fire!!) as Prince Hal and Daniel Miller (Macbeth, Oliver!, Love’s Labor’s Lost) as Hotspur as the two rival princes.
Returning to Quintessence are Kelechi Udenkwo (Cyrano, Hero in Father Comes Home) as The Douglas and Bardolph, and Sam Pottinger (Pirates of Penzance) as Poins and Worchester. Making their Quintessence debuts are Madeliene Garcia as Doll Tearsheet and Lady Percy, and Sarah Knittle as Mistress Quickly and Lady Northumberland.
Forget the story of Henry IV parts 1 and 2? “Succession” was not the first time we obsessed over who Dad was going to choose to take over. His father killed a king and usurped a kingdom, but the prodigal Prince Harry spends his days consorting with commoners and playing pranks with his philandering old knight, Sir John Falstaff, rather than studying statecraft and preparing to be the next King of England. A civil war is threatened when Hotspur and his father, the Earl of Northumberland, claim their right to the throne, forcing Hal and Falstaff from the tavern to the battlefield. In this struggle for the divine right to wear the crown, Shakespeare’s epic family drama challenges what makes a good son, a good friend, and a good leader.Copyright (C) 2024 Quintessence Theatre Group.
