Quintessence Annual Fund
Dear Friends, As long-time residents of Mt. Airy, we often wondered what would become of the historic Sedgwick Theater which seemed destined to sit humbly unnoticed on Germantown Avenue. We were intrigued when Alex Burns founded Quintessence in 2009 and began creative professional productions the following year. Soon we became subscribers and then donors. Last year, Dan completed nine years as a member of the Board of Directors, serving on the Finance Committee and as Vice-Chair. We are proud of the work that Alex does, and of the actors and staff who are the theater’s core. We are also proud to live in a community that supports classic theatre, and we believe Quintessence culturally enriches our Northwest community in return. This is the time of year when we subscribers look forward to the season’s final production and begin to anticipate an exciting new season. At the same time, staff and board members are reviewing this year’s fiscal status as they plan for a new season. The Quintessence Annual Fund offers the chance to support Quintessence directly, and to strengthen the fiscal foundation upon which its innovation can build. This opportunity is why the two of us have decided to issue a challenge which will match every first-time donor’s unrestricted donation up to $10,000 and will match 100% of the increase over a renewed 2025 gift as well. For example, if you gave $100 in 2025 and give $200 your additional $100 will generate the match. All contributions must be made by April 30 to qualify for the match.
