Job Description: Corridor Maintenance Associate
Summary: The entire Chestnut Hill Business District will be cleaned and beautified to the highest standards. The streets, parking lots, and sidewalks will be kept litter‐ and debris‐free throughout the day. The same standard will be applied throughout the district.
Reports to: Director of Operations
Hours: 20‐25 hours per week; 4‐5 days per week
Essential functions
The Corridor Maintenance Associate will assist with all BID activities including but not limited to:
▶ Picking up litter throughout the District
▷ Cleaning methods will include the Green Machine and broom clean‐up when necessary
▷ The following areas will be kept free of trash and debris (leaves, etc.):
▶ Germantown Avenue between Cresheim Valley and Chestnut Hill Avenue
Avenue (both sides)
▶ Bethlehem Pike between Germantown Avenue and Chestnut Hill East train
station (both sides)
▶ 7800 block of Winston Road
▶ Unit blocks along Germantown Avenue
▶ The Unit and 200 block of W. Evergreen Avenue
▶ SEPTA turn‐around at top of the Hill
▶ Parking Foundation parking lots
▶ Top of the Hill Plaza, park in front of Children of America, Buckley Park, and
Meditation Park
▶ Empty all trash cans on a daily basis and/or as needed and keep receptacles free of trash
▶ Assist CHBA staff during Street Festivals and promotions throughout the year.
▶ Customer Service
▷ Assist shoppers with directions, questions about stores, restaurants, Chestnut Hill, as
necessary
▷ Act as eyes and ears on the Avenue and report crime/suspicious activities as necessary
▶ Additional activities may include:
▷ Shovel snow when needed
▷ Assist with Maintenance of flowers, tree wells, and sidewalks when needed over the
spring and summer months
▷ Drive and operate golf cart to transport materials (with license, if approved)
▷ Use of a hand‐weeder or gas‐powered weedwacker to remove weeds from the gutters
and sidewalks.
Qualifications
▶ Willing and eager to learn
▶ Strong work ethic, independent, self‐motivator
▶ Comfortable operating machinery, including snow blowers
