Personally, we would’ve preferred if the winners hoisted Emperor’s Drink Stand above their heads (seen below), but that would be a whole other challenge apart from climbing the Manayunk Wall .Click to Read Article Read About John Rais The Devil Wears Prada Meets Chainmail and Fiber Art CoutureJohn wasn’t the only GLG artist to achieve fame and fortune this summer. Jesse Aviv, a designer, chainmail artist, and computational chemist, is among the incredible talent in this year’s iteration of Fiber Reimagined. Jesse, whose chainmail piece Heritage pays homage to his grandmother Jane Sauer’s connection to the fiber art community, sits parallel to her piece Split in the main gallery. Aviv is co-founder of FREE MAISON, a chainmail fashion and couture brand that specializes in classical hand-woven maille, ciphered construction, handbags, garments, jewelry, and wearable art objects. In May, The Devil Wears Prada 2 hit the big screen. The highly anticipated sequel to the iconic film featured looks by Emmy Award-winning costume designer Molly Rogers, who also designed costumes for the original 2006 film. As part of the promotion for the sequel’s premiere, Rogers chose FREE MAISON to complement her look on the red carpet. FREE MAISON and the work of Jesse Aviv and Tay Dun were showcased at the world premiere of the film at the Lincoln Center in New York, the London premiere, and the screenwriters’ dinner. Come out from 5-8 pm for food and wine, and several of the exhibition artists will be on hand around 6:30 pm to talk about their work and process.
