The Chestnut Hill Business District (CHBD) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting small businesses, promoting economic vitality, and enhancing the quality of life in one of Philadelphia’s most historic and vibrant neighborhoods. We work closely with merchants, residents, and community partners to ensure Chestnut Hill remains a welcoming place to live, shop, dine, and visit.
Position Summary
The Marketing & Communications Specialist is a full-time, hands-on role responsible for promoting the Chestnut Hill Business District through strategic marketing, digital communications, social media, and community events. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position plays a key role in increasing visibility, driving foot traffic, and telling the story of Chestnut Hill’s small business community.
This role is ideal for a creative, organized marketer who enjoys community engagement, content creation, and event promotion.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute marketing and communications initiatives that promote the Chestnut Hill Business District and its small businesses.
- Develop seasonal and long-term marketing plans aligned with major citywide and regional events.
- Manage and maintain CHBD’s brand identity across print, digital, and social platforms.
- Oversee website content, email newsletters, and digital marketing efforts.
- Lead social media strategy and content creation across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube, including community engagement and performance tracking.
- Coordinate with staff, merchants, board members, and neighborhood partners to promote and execute major community events, festivals, and holiday campaigns.
- Work with external marketing or communications consultants as needed.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in marketing, communications, social media, or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of major social media platforms and digital marketing best practices.
- Proficiency with Google Drive, Google Analytics, WordPress, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
- Proficiency with photography, videography, Canva, or Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends for events.
Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.
Work Location
This position is based in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, with in-person work at the CHBD office and regular visits to local businesses. Occasional off-site meetings and events are required.
