| ABOUT EXHIBITIONS CONTACT FIBER SPOTLIGHT: SASHA BASKIN As we prepare for Fiber Reimagined IV coming to Philadelphia and Gravers Lane Gallery in July, we’re highlighting a few other fiber artists we love. One person we can’t say enough about is Sasha Baskin. Originally introduced to her work through the Penland School of Craft, we’ve featured Sasha in several exhibitions over the last few years. Using traditional weaving and lacemaking processes in combination with source imagery from reality television, Sasha’s body of work at Gravers Lane Gallery considers how shows like “The Bachelor” and “Love is Blind” function as a modern mythological system and the creation of new gods and goddesses. Her intricate bobbin lace technique puts a delicate otherworldly visage on the carefully constructed craft of cultural phenomena. See Sasha’s interview with the Arrowmont School of Craft as she discusses her inspiration and relationship with reality television. Sasha trained in classical drawing and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2014. Transitioning to craft and studying weaving, natural dyes, and lacemaking processes, she received her Master of Fine Arts in Craft and Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2018 and current teaches at Johns Hopkins. Sasha was a member of the American Craft Council’s 2024 Emerging Artist Cohort. ![]() Cassie Under Pattern | Sasha Baskin2022 | Digitally woven cotton, silk, natural dye, digital still from “The Bachelor” Season 23 | 40”x21”.$2,800 ![]() Siren Study (Sophie)2025 | Bobbin Lace, silk thread, digital still from “America’s Sweethearts” | 4″ x 12″ (unframed), framed dimensions 9″ x 19″. $880 ![]() Siren Study (Eyes)2025 | Bobbin Lace, silk thread, digital still from”America’s Sweethearts” | 12″ x 5″ (unframed),framed dimensions 9″ x 18″. $8806 ARTIST TALK: OBJECTS AT HANDXoXo Gallery at Maryland Art Place featuring Sasha Baskin You are invited to a special artists’ talk at Maryland Art Place with the curator and a featured artist from Objects at Hand, an exhibit currently on display at XoXo Gallery, located on the 3rd floor of the Maryland Art Place Building.
