| ABOUT EXHIBITIONS CONTACT Now on View: Fiber Reimagined IV “Fiber Reimagined IV” Is an international open-call in-print exhibition conceived of and juried by Fiber Art Now Magazine’s creative team: Lori Butanis, Barbara Delaney, Beth Smith, and Cami Smith. Fiber Art Now Magazine has been transformed in recent years into an ad-free, visually stunning quarterly publication that focuses on theme-based, in-print juried exhibitions. This is Gravers Lane Gallery’s third year of formally exhibiting a selection of pieces from the winning group. Technically impressive and visually stunning, it is always one of our most attended exhibitions each year. Fiber Reimagined IV is an exploration of creative and innovative ways textiles are used, reused, constructed, and deconstructed. From felting to fine needlework, you will encounter a large-scale 9-panel computer-generated jacquard weaving (Gigi Gastevich, Wisconsin) hanging next to a demure, delicately crocheted fine silver & gold collar (Brienna Hall, Little River, CA). Encounter a spectacular flowing gown constructed from discarded plastic bags alongside a shoe constructed from cardboard. Time-consuming and technically challenging works using complex chainmail construction (Jesse Aviv, Jersey City, New Jersey) adjacent to a waxed linen knotted vessel (Joh Ricci). Quilted, knotted, tied, dyed, woven, felted, stitched, layered, stacked, wrapping, twining, coiling, and deconstructing using natural and synthetic materials. There are a few limitations to what constitutes textile and fiber art. The opening reception of Fiber Reimagined IV will be Friday, August 7th from 6 to 8 pm. Join us for our regularly scheduled First Friday celebrations in addition to artist talks, small bites, local beer, and great conversation. Working out of her second-floor studio, each painting consists of layer upon layer of symbols, materials, and methodical application. Jan’s work often takes, at minimum, 8 months to years to create. By purposely choosing to only work with natural lighting, her pieces ebb and change with the natural progression of time and consist of not only physical layers but also layers of thought and feeling, translated into texture and symbolism.
