Library and Hilltop Books Philly Bookstore Crawl Plans

We’re Going Wild. 
The Philly Book Crawl is this Saturday (August 22nd) and it’s going to be EPIC.
We’ll have:
  • A full store of excellent condition books all at one-third the retail price.
  • A large sidewalk sale with books at $2 & $4 (pbk & hardcover).
  • A SERIOUS bake sale with cold brew and lemonade (as supplies last).
  • Book giveaway bundles with a donation to the Free Library’s Capital Improvement Fund.
  • New merch that’ll make you lose your cool.
  • Philly Bookstore Crawl Passports.
  • A book-themed button-making station. Plus, we’ll have some pre-pressed buttons.
  • A delicious deal with Blue Warbler restaurant at 8001 Germantown Ave. If you spend more than $20 at Hilltop, you can get 10% off your meal or order at Blue Warbler on the day of the crawl.
The best part is that sales at Hilltop Books support the Chestnut Hill Library and the Free Library of Philadelphia. For anyone whose life has been shaped by libraries, picking treasures from our shelves will be a thrill.

We’ll be open from 9am-5pm.
Spread the Word
Every August we team up with our Chestnut Hill bookstore buddies and read in Pastorius Park. Join us and bring whatever book you’re reading (or whatever book you’ve been meaning to start). Most people bring something to sit on, too. Our friends at the Chestnut Hill Community Association bring water and popsicles.
Meet the Musicians Returns to the Library
Local saxophonist, composer, and arranger Jack Saint Clair will bring his jazz quintet to the Chestnut Hill Library to kick-off the ’26-’27 season of the “Meet the Musicians” program.

Jack’s sophisticated arrangements honor Philadelphia’s rich jazz tradition while breathing fresh life into the Great American Songbook. In addition to performing, Jack has composed for Philly POPS, the Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia, and the Temple Jazz Ensemble. He is an adjunct faculty member of the Boyer College of Music at Temple.
