Welcome to the Avenue

Something extraordinary is coming to Chestnut Hill for the holiday season, but it’s also coming to the Hill to stay.

Perhaps you’ve noticed the festive decor that appeared almost overnight in the former Philadelphia Print Shop at the corner of Germantown Avenue and Highland? That charming space is an exciting holiday preview of our newest addition to the Hill — a coffee roastery, cozy café, and lovely cocktail bar called Char & Stave.

Char & Stave will preview its second location (the first one is in Ardmore) with a festive menu of warming seasonal sippers, including coffee, cocktails, and mocktails, as well as an expansive retail area stocked with Char & Stave’s signature roast coffee beans, ranging from mild to dark to Barrel-Aged Espresso, and a plethora of giftable spirits from sister distillery, Bluebird Distilling, Phoenixville’s award-winning grain-to-glass distillery.

Jared Adkins, who is the founder and owner of both Char & Stave and Bluebird Distilling, is “thrilled to be expanding in 2023 with the addition of a second Char & Stave location” and can’t wait to give people just a first taste of what’s to come in Chestnut Hill when the fully actualIzed space opens in the Spring of 2023.

Char & Stave will be open beginning tomorrow, from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM, just in time for all our Small Business Saturday festivities on the Hill. They’ll be open through Sunday, January 4, 2023.

HOLIDAY HOURS OF OPERATION:

Wednesday 4:00 – 9:00 PM, Friday 4:00 – 10:00 PM, Saturday 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM, and Sunday 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

So please pop over to 8441 Germantown Avenue to see more of what they do and help us give a warm Chestnut Hill welcome to Jared and his team. And stop over this weekend to taste the delight of their locally-made coffee and spirits.

Cheers, and welcome to the Hill, Char & Stave!
