On Saturday February 4th family and friends of Anna Racheal Price Simpson Pullar gathered at the Tavern on the Hill in Chestnut Hill to celebrate her 101st birthday.
Anna was married to David John Simpson in June of 1939. She met him in a calculus class at Temple. Anna pursued a career in the Philadelphia School District, as an Elementary Teacher and finished her career as an Elementary School principal. Anna retired in 1970 from her duties as a principal from Fitzpatrick School on Knights Rd in Philadelphia.
She resided in Fox Chase until David passed away in 1989. After David’s death Anna moved to Rydal Park where she continues to live
Anna has remained active in retirement serving as president for the Pennsylvania (PSAR) and Philadelphia Associations of School retirees (PSSARS) and volunteered with the council of ministries District for the Methodist Church Conference. She also was involved with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Delaware Valley Association of Macular Diseases DVAMD as a volunteer during her retirement.
In her early 80’s Anna married her second husband Thomas Pullar. Tom has also passed.
Anna at 101 is still active and enjoys spending time with friends and family.
Anna was quite pleased to celebrate her 101st birthday at the Tavern on the Hill. Her 101 Dalmation themed Birthday cake was a big hit. She was most impressed when the whole restaurant and the people warmly joined in singing Happy Birthday to her as she blew out the candles. It turned out to be a memorable evening enjoyed by all.
Anna is an inspiration to all with her simple philosophy of finding joy in the moment.
