The Chestnut Hill Community Association is celebrating its 75th Anniversary in 2023! Founded in 1948, the CHCA’s mission is to enrich the quality of life for people who live, work, and visit Chestnut Hill.

The CHCA brings local organizations together and provides a public forum in its role as the convening Registered Community Organization (RCO) in Chestnut Hill. We proudly serve over 10,000 area residents and thousands more who annually visit Philadelphia’s “Garden District”. Through our values of Service, Advocacy, and Community the CHCA has been the driving force to foster and improve quality of life in Chestnut Hill for 75 years! The CHCA’s efforts were enhanced in 1958 when the Chestnut Hill Local newspaper emerged as a community forum. Today The Local is a well-respected and indispensable resource for the community at large. Together the CHCA and The Local have provided over a combined 125 years of dedicated service to our community.

Along with membership fees, the Chestnut Hill Community Association relies heavily on your generosity to fund our operations. This year because The Local has an immediate and urgent need for donations to continue providing quality and timely local news in print and online we are including The Local in our Annual Appeal.
We ask you to join us in celebrating a strong and sustaining Chestnut Hill spirit by giving generously to this Appeal’s $200,000 goal to benefit both the CHCA and The Local.

By mutual agreement between the CHCA and The Local, donations to the Appeal will be shared as follows: Up to $150,000, two-thirds of the collected funds will go to the CHCA and one-third to The Local. All donations above that total will be shared equally between the two organizations.

The CHCA funds will be directed towards the following programs and activities:

  • Community events such as the Pastorius Park Concerts, Movie Nights, and the Holiday Parade
  • Promoting, planning for and planting green spaces throughout Chestnut Hill
  • Facilitating active stewardship of land use planning and zoning issues within the community
  • Liaising with the city of Philadelphia regarding issues that impact Chestnut Hill
  • Offering beloved annual and exciting new events for all ages and interests in every season

The Local’s funds will be directed towards:

  • New computers, new software to replace outdated equipment and systems

May we please count on you to make a gift to the Chestnut Hill Community Association that will impact both these organizations?

You can make your tax-deductible donation online at www.chestnuthill.org/donate, or on www.chestnuthilllocal.com, or mail your check to CHCA, 8434 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19118. On behalf of the board of the CHCA we appreciate your consideration.
