Music at Woodmere presents: Jazz from the Art
In partnership with Lifeline Music Coalition, Woodmere happily announces a quick, free, weekly dose of jazz tunes. As we await the return of Woodmere’s outdoor Saturday Night Jazz series, each weekend we’ll release a new video featuring interviews and highlights from a past 2020 performance by the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble at Woodmere. New Exhibition:
History in Motion: Tom Judd’s Subway Mural
February 27 – June 13, 2021
In connection with the reconstruction of the 5th Street-Independence Hall Station on the Market-Frankford Line, and as part of SEPTA’s Art in Transit program, artist Tom Judd was selected to create a permanent installation for the station. Titled Portal to Discovery, Judd’s mural on the eastbound and westbound platforms presents figures who contributed to the founding of the United States as well as those who fought for “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” for all.
Woodmere’s exhibition History in Motion, opening February 27, includes preparatory studies for the mural as well as in-process photographs of the installation. Judd will be at Woodmere opening weekend—for a socially-distanced opportunity to meet the artist, followed by an online reception on Tuesday, March 2.
