Philadelphia, PA—Fall is the perfect time to see beautiful flowers and trees at Morris Arboretum & Gardens! Enjoy the big, beautiful blossoms of our Exuberant Blooms exhibition—eight “islands” of more than 10,000 gorgeous plants spread over a quarter acre of open garden. And see them before they go extinct—Plants in the Age of Dinosaurs, a self-guided exhibition featuring plants in our collection with roots that go back to prehistoric times, and Garden Railway: Dinos! end September 30! Exuberant Blooms

Exuberant Blooms, our annual modern take on Victorian flower carpets, gets even HOTTER this summer with eight beds of bigger, bolder, brighter, and more beautiful flowers! Spread over more than a quarter acre of open garden, the large paisley-shaped floral “islands” contain more than 10,000 plants with heights ranging from 8 inches to 8 feet. Exuberant Blooms is sponsored by The Powder Mill Foundation and Ball Horticultural Company.

Garden Railway: Dinos!

This exhibition features a spectacular display of dinosaurs, including Triceratops, Pteranodon, and Velociraptor, all made from natural materials like bark, leaves, and twigs. As one of the largest outdoor model train displays in the United States with more than 15 different rail lines running along a third of a mile of track, the Garden Railway will delight and amaze visitors of all ages. Evening Wine, Cheese, and Trees

Wednesday, September 11 | 5:30 – 7:30 pm

Members: $40, non-members: $45

Registration is required

Join us for an after-hours wander into the treetops and through the garden at your leisure. Explore the treetops at Out On a Limb, enjoy the Fernery after hours, and discover the Rose and Ellipse gardens. Each site will feature staff-favorite wines and cheese plates to enjoy as you wander and experience these remarkable locations. Instrumental guitar by local musician Raji Malik will add to the treetop experience. Sites will be open from 5:30 – 7:30 pm and guests can arrive when it is convenient for them. Last arrival should be no later than 6:30 pm to allow time to visit each site.

Oaks of the Mid-Atlantic Tour

Join an experienced garden educator in discovering and identifying the Mid-Atlantic oaks around us and in the Morris’s extensive collection. Every region of our planet where oaks are present has a unique profile of oaks that populate that area. Learn how to differentiate our local oaks, including the bur oak, white oak, red oak, black oak, and chestnut oak. Explore the acorn variety of different trees and enjoy the glorious colors of autumn. As the environmentalist and author Doug Tallamy has said, the majestic oak trees are critical to our planet because they provide more food and habitat for our native wildlife than any other tree by far. Take a tour of our champion trees with one of our wonderful educators, bop along to the coolest hits being spun by a local Philly DJ and taste the flavors of fall as you enjoy hard cider served by Hale & True (and imbibe other drinks provided by the Morris as well!).
