Green in Chestnut Hill (GRinCH) is once again partnering with the Weavers Way Environment Committee for electronic recycling (aka Weird Waste Day).
The event is Saturday, September 24th from 9am to 12pm at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy in Chestnut Hill (8891 Germantown Avenue). GRinCH and Weavers Way have been organizing these events for the past 7 years so that our neighbors have the opportunity to recycle their electronics responsibly.
Many electronics end up in the landfills of developing countries, poisoning their soil and water with heavy metals. Responsibly recycling reduces that threat. The additional benefit of hiring Eforce Compliance, a Philadelphia company that responsibly recycles, is that local jobs are created and supported.
Donations made at the event are used to pay the Eforce fee, and the remaining income supports grants allocated by GRinCH and WWEC for environmentally friendly projects.
