When: Saturday, November 8, at 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Who: Speakers will include leaders of the Weavers Way Co-op and the Clean Energy Co-op, Southeast Chapter. Local political leaders are also expected to attend and speak.
Why: Despite vanishing support at the federal level, solar power continues to gain fans and investments at the grassroots. The Clean Energy Co-op and Weavers Way have again joined together to put solar panels on the roof of a Weavers Way store. They last worked together in 2024 to put solar on the roof of a Weavers Way store in Germantown.
About: The Clean Energy Co-op, an all-volunteer co-op, has developed eight solar power installations in Pennsylvania. It started in 2013 as a “solar community circle,” became a full-fledged co-op in 2014, and added a southeast chapter in 2021. The Co-op uses an award-winning method of developing solar projects using its members’ pooled investments, allowing individuals to directly increase the amount of renewable energy installed in Pennsylvania. Several more solar projects are now in the works. For more background, go to https://www.cleanenergy.coop/.
