Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends Weekend at Morris Arboretum on August 13 & 14
Visit Morris Arboretum’s Garden Railway on Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14, 10am-5pm both days, to see Thomas, Percy, Toby and the whole gang take over the tracks!
Watch your favorite train characters chug along the quarter mile track that features seven loops and tunnels with 15 rail lines, two cable cars, and nine bridges. This magical world, complete with miniature buildings surrounding the tracks, is created entirely of natural materials and nestled among woody plants, colorful annuals and perennials. The finished product is an enchanting landscape that never ceases to delight visitors both young and old.
Celebrating its 19th year, the Garden Railway 2016 theme is “Awaken the Senses” that will feature buildings that incorporate one or two of the five senses in the structure. Look for Sleeping Beauty’s intricately detailed Castle. Imagine the smells wafting from Randy’s Donut Shop and the Skunk House. And be sure to feel the various natural materials on the Touch Board of samples used in the miniature world of the Garden Railway.
Free with regular garden admission. For more information about Morris Arboretum, please check the website, www.morrisarboretum.org, or call 215-247-5777.
