The Wissahickon Trail Classic Returns June 7
10K and 1 Mile Nature Walk in Wissahickon Valley Park on National Trails Day
The 16th Wissahickon Trail Classic (WTC), one of the region’s premier 10K trail races, is ready to welcome hundreds of runners to Wissahickon Valley Park on Saturday, June 7.
The WTC, which always takes place on National Trails Day, was established in 2006 by the Wissahickon Wanderers Running Club to highlight the park as one of the best trail-running destinations on the East Coast. Since the race returned to the park three years ago, it consistently has attracted nearly 500 runners throughout the region for its well-maintained, challenging course, stunning setting, and fun! Benefitting Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW), funds raised will go directly to the stewardship of the Wissahickon trail system and watershed.
“FOW is thrilled to once again be the beneficiary of this iconic trail race and to engage with the active running community in our region,” said Ruffian Tittmann, FOW executive director. “Every participant helps us continue to improve the park’s more than 50 miles of trails, enjoyed by two million visitors each year, and the water quality of Wissahickon Creek, which supplies drinking water for one in three Philadelphians.”
