4/26 – 4/30 Parks on Tap: Pastorius Park
Pastorius Park is a 16-acre gem nestled in the heart of residential Chestnut Hill. The land that comprises the present-day park was donated by George Woodward (1863-1952), a prominent physician, developer, and progressive politician. The park was designed by local landscape architect Frederick W. G. Peck, and its construction executed by the Works Program Administration (WPA) in 1937. Peck’s design, heavily influenced by Frederick Law Olmstead, reflects the community’s desire and Woodward’s vision of the park as a passive green space for both reflection and recreation.
