Music & Memory:
The Power to Combat Dementia

Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.

Studies prove that playing and listening to music counteracts the negative effects of aging, such as memory loss, hearing loss and other sensory difficulties, social functioning and sense of identity.

Concert pianist and educational expert Marja Kaisla, who has extensive experience in teaching older adults, will talk about the latest research in the importance of engaging in musical activity to improve memory and processing speed, and how music leads to increased activity on both sides of the brain.
