Soul, Sound, and Voice: The Art of Jerry Pinkney

Woodmere is delighted to showcase master watercolorist and internationally renowned illustrator, Jerry Pinkney (1939-2021) whose 100+ books have inspired millions globally. The exhibition will include approximately 100 of Pinkney’s watercolors and illustrations, showcasing the profound influence of music on his life and work. His work is centered on finding voice and building agency, particularly for young people, and highlights the vital role that sound, song, and music play in this pursuit.

Snowpeople | Peter Paone

Woodmere is delighted to bring Peter Paone’s Snowpeople to life in this inventive body of work on the very special occasion of the grand opening of the Frances M. Maguire Hall for Art & Education. The artist calls this series

Snowpeople. Some register as men, and some as women. The series also features a rabbit, a frog, Minnie and Mickey Mouse, and a hat with a face. Together, they witness Paone’s career-long passion for representing the human condition, including our mortality.

Planting in Place, Time, and Memory | Syd Carpenter

Experience the profound and evocative work of Syd Carpenter in Planting in Place, Time, and Memory, a comprehensive retrospective celebrating over 50 years of her influential career. This landmark exhibition will showcase the full breadth of Carpenter’s artistic journey, highlighting her innovative explorations at the intersection of African American history, land and agriculture, the human body, and the elemental materiality of clay.
