Illustrating Change: The Red Rose Girls & 20th Century Suffrage
Lecturers: Woodmere Docents Bonnie Brown, Marsha Braverman, Sue Royer
During Women’s History Month, learn the stories of Jessie Willcox Smith, Elizabeth Shippen Green and Violet Oakley, who were among the most prominent and prolific artists of their time. These three remarkable Philadelphia artists became examples of the possibilities for women in the workforce during the suffrage movement. Their talent, dedication, and a lifelong friendship brought them national recognition.
This event is free for members, but registration is required. The lecture will also be presented as part of Drexel University’s Vision 2020 Women 100 program on March 10 and 22. Check the March online calendar for details.
