Meet the Musicians

Join us Tuesday (3/25) for an upbeat performance with Junk Drawer String Band. Junk Drawer String Band is composed of odds and ends of the Philly Bluegrass and Old-Time scene. The band includes contradance fiddler Cecelia Tannous-Taylor, Midnight Flyer banjo player Andy Davis, Red Tail Rounders guitarist Austin Alfano, and Renee “Ray” Drezer (formerly of The Cheddar Boys & bandleader of the local Joni Mitchell tribute band). Junk Drawer String Band delivers an exuberant performance that combines powerful vocals with virtuosic strumming and picking, plus a rubberband ball and a couple of buttons.
Also mark your calendar for a performance by Sing Slavic on Tuesday, April 29th at 5:15pm. Sing Slavic (previously the Philadelphia Women’s Slavic Ensemble) is a choir interested in sharing Slavic languages and sounds with their community. Since 2011 the group has drawn inspiration from countries such as Bulgaria, Poland, Russia, and Serbia to perform ancient folk melodies as well as some contemporary songs. They can be easily recognized by their Ukrainian-inspired flower crowns! |
