Friends of the Wissahickon Kicks Off 3rd Annual All Trails Challenge Sept. 4

Friends of the Wissahickon kicks off its Third Annual All Trails Challenge (ATC) today, inviting outdoor enthusiasts of all ages to hike, run, bike, or horseback ride all 50 miles of Wissahickon Valley Park’s scenic trails.

ATC is not a race, and you don’t have to be a conditioned athlete to enjoy the beauty of this urban oasis, while supporting FOW’s ongoing stewardship to preserve the park for generations to come. Friends, family, and coworkers can join your effort by sponsoring you. More than 245 people participated in the 2017 ATC, completing over 5,000 miles and raising $29,000.

The family-friendly activity began on Aug. 20 for FOW members and continues through Nov. 27. Along the way there’ll be mileage and fundraising incentives, lots of giveaways, and scheduled hikes and walks with great prizes, including exclusive vacations for the top mileage and fundraising participants.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

STEP 1 – Register for the 2018 ATC at fow.org/alltrailschallenge, and return often for updates, tips on how to get started and keep going, see the park, promote your progress among your network, and more. All participants who have registered with a minimum of $50 raised or contributed are eligible to compete for prizes based on miles completed.

STEP 2 – Track your mileage with a handy fitness tracking app like Strava, FitBit or Map My Fitness and sync it with your fundraising page. Or manually upload it to your Everyday Hero Supporter Page.

STEP 3 – Start logging miles on the FOW website and raising money for Wissahickon Valley Park.

Step 4 – Spread the word! Create a fundraising page and share updates with friends and family via email and social media.

This year, FOW is proud to welcome Univest as a lead sponsor, along with additional sponsors Chestnut Hill Hospital, Earth Bread + Brewery, Devilfish Ink, Elfant Wissahickon Realtors, Kouvenda Media, McFarland Tree & Landscape Services, Nolan Painting, Old York Advisors of Raymond James, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Skytop Lodge, and Wissahickon Brewing Company.

Tag @FOWissahickon on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and FOW will choose one photo per week to be featured in its weekly e-newsletter. Use #FOWAllTrails.
