FREE ICE CREAM and Nature Fun at Friends of the Wissahickon’s 18th Annual Ice Cream Social
Join a Guided Walk to the Event from Weavers Way Co-op-Germantown
Ice cream never tastes better than on a hot summer day. Join Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) for an afternoon of free ice cream and fun activities for the whole family at their 18th Annual Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, August 21, from 3-5 p.m., at Historic Rittenhouse Town (208 Lincoln Drive), one of our partners. Bredenbeck’s Bakery will once again provide the ice cream and non-dairy sorbet for all to enjoy!
Bring the whole family to enjoy nature-themed activities hosted by some of our staff and partners, including Let’s Go Outdoors and the Wissahickon Environmental Center.
Join a guided group walk to the event starting at 2:30 p.m. from our Weavers Way Co-op partners’ new Germantown store (328 West Chelten Avenue). Pick up free snacks and cold drinks, then staff and volunteers from FOW will lead the way. Along the route (about 30-45 minutes), they’ll point out the extensive progress on our ongoing Harvey Street improvement project which is creating safe, stewarded access to the park, and other points of interest. Spend an hour or so at the Ice Cream Social, then head back to the Co-op with FOW. To join the walk, register here.
The Ice Cream Social takes place rain or shine, but register here to stay informed about weather or other emergency cancellations. For more information, contact Claire Brennan at brennan@fow.org.
