No Tricks Here – Halloween Stewardship Day is a Treat for Everyone

Join Friends of the Wissahickon on 10/28

PHILADELPHIA – October 19, 2023 – In the spirit of stewardship this Halloween, all of the witches, ghosts and goblins are coming together to take care of Wissahickon Valley Park. Join Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW) for a fun day of stewardship on Saturday, October 28 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.  when we plant native trees and shrubs, remove litter, clean up debris, and clear invasive plants.

No experience is needed. FOW provides gloves, tools, instruction – and Halloween candy. Wear sturdy footwear and long pants, and bring a water bottle. And, it’s the season for dress-up and this event is no different – costumes are encouraged, even a Wissahickon-related theme (a tree, Thomas Mill Covered Bridge, or even a character from Mannequin 2 on the Move movie, which was partly filmed in the park). Prizes for best Halloween costume will be awarded.

This cleanup and planting takes place in the Harvey Street area of the park as part of FOW’s ongoing extensive Germantown Neighborhood Connector Project. Register here.

Detailed information and the specific meeting location will be sent by email the day before the event. For more information contact Amelia Marren at marren@fow.org.
