Friends of the Wissahickon Hosts Valley Talk at Valley Green Inn – Dec. 6
Chestnut Hill Hospital sponsors a talk by an environmental activist, best-selling author on our right to a healthy environment
Join Friends of the Wissahickon on Thursday, Dec. 6, for the third lecture in its fall Valley Talks series when environmental activist Maya van Rossum presents “The Green Amendment: Securing Our Right to a Healthy Environment.” The talk will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Valley Green Inn. The program was rescheduled from a weather-related cancellation in May.
Maya van Rossum will discuss her recently-published best-selling book by the same name and how members can become more engaged with environmental and water advocacy relating to the Wissahickon watershed. She is currently advancing The Green Amendment movement, seeking to secure constitutional protection for environmental rights nationwide. Maya van Rossum has served as the Delaware Riverkeeper and leader for the Delaware Riverkeeper Network since 1994, and also serves on a number of the region’s water quality committees. She is also a leader among her peers and currently serves as an Advisory Board member for the Clean Water Network (2014), a convener of water protection organizations from across the nation.
Valley Green Inn is located on Forbidden Drive in Wissahickon Valley Park. Sponsored by Chestnut Hill Hospital, the Valley Talks lectures are free for FOW members (check e-mail for a registration link or contact email@example.com register) and $10 for non-members. Registration is recommended as seating is limited. A complimentary wine and cheese reception will be provided.
