Arts & Eats at Moondance Farm Studio

April 4

Join us for April’s FIRST FRIDAY!
Explore Chestnut Hill’s galleries to discover new artists and mingle with other art-lovers. Check out the great shops & restaurants too!

At Moondance, we’re featuring artist Shona Moseley and her breathtaking ceramic vessels. As usual, our walls are filled with art by over 70 local artists, and we’ll have light bites & spring sips.

Shona Moseley creates sculptural clay works that are both provocative and whimsical. Starting with familiar forms like vases and teapots, she stretches and embellishes them into nontraditional pieces that are also still functional. She’s inspired by big and small parts of her landscape – the struggles of women, a bike ride along the Schuylkill, fashion, Black and Brown artists – and incorporates these into her statement-making constructions.

As a teenager, Shona would go every Saturday to a pottery studio in Germantown to spend the entire day alongside artists who influenced and motivated her. She credits those precious days with saving her from the angst that affected her both mentally and emotionally. Mostly self-taught, Shona has studied informally at the Clay Studio and Allens Lane Art Center. She now operates a studio from her home in Germantown.
