Gravers Lane Gallery:  located at 8405 Germantown Avenue in the historic Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, is pleased to present, “Tales from the Ruins”, paintings by Chestnut Hill based artist, CLARISSA SHANAHAN.

Clarissa Shanahan spent 15 years as a film industry scenic painter.  This experience carries over into her current studio painting.  Her medium of choice, encaustic painting, beeswax and oil on panel, draws on her years of experience in theatrical painting. Dark, moody and hauntingly stunning, Shanahan uses a reduced palette of   greens, ecru black and white.  The work is evokes deep thought, memory through images of abandoned places and haunted spaces.  “Tales from the Ruins” is the perfect exhibition for Chestnut Hill’s Harry Potter Festival.
