Hello Parade Friends,
It is time to march down the Avenue again! This Saturday, 12/7 we will come together to celebrate the holiday season and our community. Our grade schools, high schools, dance companies, bands, choirs, scout troops, antique car collectors, etc., will unite to foster a positive spirit and energy that makes our community special. We are so fortunate to be able to share in this.
This year we are proud to add another component to our parade platform. In this respect, our hope is to harness all of our parade energy in a way that will help those in need this winter. More specifically, we are going to support the very important mission of DeSales Service Works (https://www.desalesservice. org/) by asking our parade participants and community supporters to consider bringing donations of winter clothing/gear (jackets, hats, gloves, scarves, sweatshirts, ski pants, boots, blankets, etc…used or new) to our unique event. DeSales Service Work, led by Father Mike McCue, is dedicated to helping all of the less fortunate among us. In so doing Father Mike offered the following insight:
“We share food, drink, and clothing with neighbors in need, but we also share respect and kindness and insights—experiencing people, no labels, issues, or problems. We are grateful for your concrete support, particularly in these cold winter days.”
In advance, as always, please know how much we appreciate your support that makes our parade possible each and every year. This year we aspire to extend our reach with this winter clothing/gear drive in support of DeSales Service Works. If you have some of this winter gear that you might not be using or need anymore, please bring this with you on Saturday morning! We will have designated donation areas along our parade route (OMC Church Parking Lot, Market at the Fareway Parking Lot, and a few other areas along the Avenue that we will define in a followup email later this week.
We look forward to sharing in our parade fun with all of you on Saturday…and helping DeSales Service Works support those in need this winter!
Sincerely,
Brien P. Tilley
