New Ticketing System Launches Aug 5

To better serve you, we’re launching a new and improved ticketing system on August 5, 2025. Just as it does now, our website will directly connect you when you select “Register Now.” Everyone will need to create a new account, but the platform will offer more features and flexibility than ever before. Woodmere Will be CLOSED for Facility Improvements Aug18-Sept 3

We’re also investing in important upgrades to Woodmere’s Smith Hall, including:

  • Interior renovations and repairs
  • Paving the back parking lot (near the Studio)

To complete this work efficiently, the galleries will be closed from August 18 through September 3, 2025. Cars will not be permitted to park in the back lot during the re-paving, but Studio classes will continue as scheduled. Security and staff will be onsite to welcome and assist students.

We are Launching a New Website with an Improved Online Experience

In early fall, Woodmere will launch a brand-new website with a fresh, modern look, mobile-friendly browsing, smarter navigation and search, and streamlined access to our programs, classes, concerts, and so much more! In just a few weeks, you’ll be able to explore a completely redesigned site built to make your experience smoother, faster, and more helpful than ever. We can’t wait to welcome you to our new online home!

FREE Admission to Woodmere Resumes After Closure

After the brief closure (August 18 – September 3, 2025), FREE admission will resume on Thursday, September 4 and continue through Friday, October 3, 2025. Along with vibrant new exhibitions, we will be hosting several exciting events happening at Charles Knox Smith Hall, including The Photo Review Opening ReceptionStraw Maze Opening, and a thought-provoking lecture, All We Have is Each Other: Black Artists and Collective Visions, with Bridget R. Cooks, PhD, Chancellor’s Fellow and Professor of African American Studies and Art History at the University of California Irvine.

And if you have not already, mark your calendar for the Grand Opening Celebration of the Frances M. Maguire Hall for Art and Education, which is FREE and open to the public on Saturday, November 1 and Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Straw Maze

Save the Date! The beloved Annual Straw Maze opens Friday, September 5, 2025. Explore the zigzag spaces, tunnels, and multi-level views created in Woodmere’s 2025 straw maze. Built with massive bales of straw and designed by architects Peter Everett Brown and Barbara Ann Sprague of BrownSprague LLC, this year’s maze provides fun and recreation for all ages. Whether you’re rekindling a creative spark or picking up a brush for the first time, our adult art classes invite you to slow down and reconnect. Led by professionals, these hands-on sessions explore everything from painting to health and wellness. No experience required – just curiosity and imagination.

Our children’s art classes, taught by experienced educators in a safe, engaging environment, turn the museum into a playground for artistry! These hands-on, immersive classes and workshops are designed to ignite creativity, boost confidence, and let kids explore their artistic voice through paint, pastels, papier-mâché, and more (think outdoor exploration, magical creatures, underwater worlds, and even acting and playwrighting!)

Explore the power of color in your work. Investigate how to create mood and atmosphere, movement, drama, contrasts, beautiful harmonies, and delicate subtleties. Students will experiment with color saturation and changes in intensity, color temperatures, complements and contrasts, muted tones, color values, and applications of thick and thin paint. Inside the Outdoors: Creating a Wissahickon-Inspired Exhibition

Tuesday-Friday, August 5-8 (Meets 4 times)

9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Join us for an exciting art class for children and teens where we’ll create an immersive installation inspired by Wissahickon Valley Park! Young artists will explore the vibrant ecosystem of the Wissahickon forest—discovering its trees, plants, animals, and landforms—while experimenting with a variety of artistic techniques and materials and honing their artistic vision and skills. Students’ artworks will be showcased in Walk in the Wissahickon, an immersive, floor-to-ceiling exhibition in Woodmere’s Helen Millard Gallery this fall. Register here.

Teen Painting and Drawing

Monday-Friday, August 11-15 (Meets 5 times)

2 PM – 5 PM

Ages 13-17

$240 ($230 Members)

Through observation-based drawing, students will work on a still life using charcoal, pencils, and inks and enjoy painting outdoors in Woodmere’s beautiful gardens. Sketchbook studies, composition, and color mixing will be part of the daily curriculum, providing a strong foundation for artistic growth. Register here.
