On view through October 24, 2021
Germantown-native Roland Ayers (1932–2014) developed a unique style and iconography that responded to the social and political climate of his time and referenced the broader canons of art history. Calligraphy of Dreams offers a thirty-year survey of Ayers’ progression toward his most noted medium: intricate drawings of ink on paper.

Seeing the Story: A Conversation on Contemporary Illustration
Join us for this exciting event, co-hosted by Woodmere and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts! The Woodmere Annual: 79th Juried Exhibition features the work of 48 artists, many of whom are PAFA alumni and faculty. Seeing the Story, curated by David Wiesner, explores narrative art being made in Philadelphia in the present moment.
In this virtual conversation, Wiesner will be joined by successful artists and illustrators Kate Samworth, Jessica Abel, and Chenlin Cai for an in-depth look at the possibilities of illustration and how these artists are stretching the limits of their medium.
