The Chestnut Hill Fall for the Arts Festival will celebrate the actual process of art making at the 2nd Annual Makers Village, where artisans will demonstrate their crafts.
Located at East Southampton Ave. and Germantown Ave. Makers Village will feature blacksmith demonstrations, glass blowing, jewelry making, encaustic painting, textile art, stained glass and more

FALL 2016 TEACHING
High School Portfolio Prep: Drawing
The cornerstone of all fine arts study!  Draw from the still life, the figure and portrait models in a range of materials including graphite, charcoal, and conté crayon. Ideal for teens who want to further their drawing skills and develop a strong body of work for their portfolios. Students will work in drawing media from still life, and models to learn principles of composition, value, perspective, and drawing techniques. Will include drawing directly from artwork in Museum exhibitions, portrait and figure drawing. Includes discussions providing advice on selecting and documenting work for a portfolio and an optional portfolio review.

Gold leaf is used in architectural ornamentation, book arts, framing and more. This class is an introduction to the traditional European method of oil gilding. Students will become familiar with the fundamentals of working with precious and non-precious leaf as they produce sample boards and carved samples. Surface preparations and traditional finishes will all be covered.
